This deadline has now passed.
You are invited to register for SC CCR&R’s Early Learning Saturday on May 11, 2024, hosted in Zoom Events.
We will be holding two sessions that will each be given twice. You can find these session descriptions below. From 9:00 am to 10:00 am, both sessions will be given, and you can choose which one you would like to join first. From 10:00 am to 10:15 am there will be a short break, and from 10:15 to 11:15 the sessions will then be given for a second time, and you can join the lobby of the session you did not take from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
Family Style Dining, Tunisiann Howard, 9:00 am to 10:00 am & 10:15 am to 11:15 am
Family-style dining in a child care setting enriches curriculum as no other activity can. Pouring, passing, serving, and sharing food not only promotes language and fine motor development, but also enhances a child’s self-concept by providing opportunities to make decisions and to take responsibility. Learn the benefits for children, staff, and families and ways to enrich the experience for children.
Gardening with Small Children, Manija Torian, 9:00 am to 10:00 am & 10:15 am to 11:15 am
Introducing gardens and gardening into early childhood settings offers great opportunities for open-ended learning experiences. Incorporating production gardens into outdoor learning environments at childcare centers can inspire lifelong healthy eating habits and can become models for the families we serve. Join us to explore the research on the subject, learn developmentally appropriate activities to incorporate into your lesson planning, and get your hands dirty setting up a raised bed garden! (green thumb not required).
